Moore State Park

Our Score

We hiked the Davis Hill Field Trail on memorial day weekend. The beginning of the hike takes you through an open hilly field. The “right” side of the field is muddy and soggy if it has rained recently, so go for the center field trail over the ridge if that’s the case. The field is open and beautiful, filled with grasses and flowers, buzzing with bees and dragon flies. It was heavenly. The wooded part of the walk is beautiful, down a steep hill towards the lake. The wooded area is filled with old lush rhododendrons. The path can also be mushy and is partly a stream depending on recent rainfall. At less than 2 miles, it’s an easy walk that Hannah could make despite her 9 months pregnancy (even if I had to give her a helpful push to get her up the hills).

The parking lot was full and the grassy area towards the entrance was also full by the time we left. Surprisingly, we rarely came across any of the other visitors.
