Closer to the Connecticut border, this public state park is a great diversion. Parking is around $5 for MA license plates but closer to $20 for out-of-state plates. The chasm entry begins not far from the parking lot. We went on a pretty hot day, but the chasm during the Spring is still cool; air coming out of crevasses between the stone is musty yet refreshing. A natural spring awaits you at the far end of the chasm, followed by a marshy area and a board walk. The park has multiple walking paths. The area is hilly, so some steeper inclines are present depending on the path taken. Some paths take you up on the ledges above the chasm, which are dizzying in height and would certainly be fatal in a fall. Other paths take you along a bubbling river with multiple small waterfalls. The park is well attended, which is a mark against it in our opinion. The area is beautiful and definitely worth a visit.
